If you are interested in webcomics, light novels, or just reading in general I have the perfect thing for you. There are several different apps out there that allow for reading on the go. And there are opportunities to read stuff for free. These webtoon apps are all free as well. The only thing is that not everything in the apps are free. Some require you to spend money, but you don’t have to. These apps are a good way to pass the time. Now while some may overlap, with the same stories, they all have a large variety to choose from still.
Pocket Comics
This app has a large variety to choose from. They even have adult content. But that is not available on the app, it is online though. It is very easy to read previews (a few chapters) of most, if not all, comics available for free. They also have a daily free ticket you can get from logging in every day. Accumulate those and you can read a lot. They also allow one free chapter by watching one ad per day. Another method they have is one free chapter using a rental gauge that can be used once per day as well. In addition to that, they hold events where certain comics are on sale or free and so on. The only downside to having all this free chapter stuff is that for every comic there is a limit. You can only use all your tickets, gauges, and ads up for all chapters except the 10 most recently released chapters of every comic.
Lezhin Comics
This particular app is very good, as all the comics that I have read so far have been great. They have a great selection. And if you wish for an adult section, you can download their adult version of the app. Every comic available has the first chapter free to let you see if you like the comic. Some might even give you up to 3-5 chapters for free. While there aren’t many opportunities to get free chapters, there is a “Free” section of comics. These comics have usually allow you to read for free up to chapter 20. But you only get one chapter for free a day per comic. Most of the time you are highly encouraged to spend money to read as there is not other opportunity to get the “coins” needed for the chapters you what to read. You may be able to obtain bonus coins if you log in every day. Be aware they do expire.
WEBTOON
WEBTOON has the most free comics available out of all of the webtoon apps suggested here. They have a lot of free comics. Most of the time, if you are to spend coins, you are using them to pay for reading chapters ahead of everyone else. There are opportunities to get free coins by downloading certain games and such. Now some of these comics are not made with the best art or story as these comics can be posted by almost anyone. But don’t count them out. Some of them are very good. And some of the comics are remakes of novels. They always have new stuff to look at and a lot of competitions too. If you are interested in making comics.
Tappytoon
I love Tappytoon. This app has comics and light novels available for you to read. They have something called Time till free. Comics with a small green clock on the top left corner of them allow for one free chapter a day. There are opportunities to get free tickets to use on particular comics or novels. In addition, there are opportunities to get free “Points” to spend on chapters you want to read. Usually by watching ads or completing downloads or some such. This app has some god quality reads that you should definitely read. They also have a mature setting that you can turn off and on. Out of all of the webtoon apps I have listed, Tappytoon and Tapas are the only two that allow for reading of mature content on the app with a mature setting.
Tapas
Tapas is also one of my favorites out of all the webtoon apps I have listed. They provide comics and light novels as well. And if I may say so, they have a much larger selection than Tappytoon. There are a lot of good quality comics to read and many opportunities to get free “ink” to spend on chapters. Mostly by downloading certain games and completing certain goals as is the usual. There are also opportunities to read free chapters for certain comics and novels. They call it Wait Until Free (WUF). Some comics have a WUF every 3 hours, and others once a day. The thing about the WUF comics and novels is that not all chapters are WUF. Usually the most recently released chapters (10-15 most recent chapters) are not going to be WUF. These WUF novels and comics are indicated by the yellow clock icon. There are also a lot of events that allow you to obtain free ink by reading certain comics or novels. So make sure to give this app a try.
