Period Underwear and Products

I remember the days when I only had 2 choices: using a tampon or a pad. And honestly, I had to use both. I moved around so much that I still managed to get blood on my pants on some days. Which did not make things easier. But now, there are newer products out there to make women’s lives easier. These new period underwear and products are really revolutionary.

Period Underwear

I Love the invention of the period underwear. It has made life so much easier and clean. I no longer have to worry about getting blood on my underwear or pants. It’s truly wonderful. And I would highly recommend it to those who have lighter periods. I know there are some that claim to hold a lot of liquid, but it just doesn’t feel all that good to pull your underwear back on after going to the bathroom when it’s full of blood. I should know since I have a heavy flow the first 3 days of my 7 day period.

Now I would like to also suggest that if you move around a lot, you should get boxer period underwear. It makes sure that when you move it won’t move around too much. Personally, I like the ones from Knix. They are breathable and comfy. And they don’t leave marks. I get marked by my clothes easily. You know, when you sit or lay down too long and you see those crease marks on your skin?

Other Period Products

Menstrual Discs

Of the many period underwear and products out there, you probably heard of discs. There many benefits to using period discs. One is that you can keep them in for 12 hours at a time before you need to replace it. Another benefit is that you can keep them in while having sex. Thirdly, you can barely feel them, if at all. And lastly, they can potentially help reduce cramps. Thankfully, I’ve never had cramps when my period comes. Personally, I use the discs because I find them better than tampons and I don’t even feel it.

Menstrual Cups

Now I have never used cups, but I have considered using them since they could help me save more money. As there are reusable cups and disposable ones. They can last a long time with proper care. But that is one thing that made me use discs. You have to wash them properly. These menstrual cups can also be used for 12 hours straight. Depending on the brand. Some of them can also be used while having sex. In addition, if put in correctly, can barely be felt. If at all. One thing to consider, before buying. Make sure you get the right size with the flexibility you want.

Of all the newer period underwear and products out there, these are leaps and bounds better than tampons and pads. Now some of the underwear can be expensive, but it is definitely worth the investment. And if you wish to try the menstrual discs or cups they have subscription services to send them to your door. Also, if you aren’t sure which to try, try both. But know that both take time to get used to.
