Your Meals Delivered: Factor

“Hello” to everyone new, and “Welcome back” for those of you who have already read my other “Your Meals Delivered” articles. This time we will be going over Factor. If you haven’t discovered the trend yet, I will be going through almost all the different home delivery meal kits. So make sure you check back every few weeks to see if I post anything new.

What is Factor? And How Does it Work?

factor

So, Factor is another home delivery meal kit service. This food subscription service is made for those who have no time to do prep work and cook dinner. Everything was made easy for those with no time on their hands as all the prep work has been done for you. All you have to do is pop your premade meals in the oven or microwave. Dinner has never been made easier. Everything is also fresh, never frozen.

It is super easy to sign up for an account too. There aren’t really any surveys you need to take once you make an account either. This could be good for those who just want to pick their meals right away. Like me. Other sites would usually ask for my taste and food preferences and stuff, but they weren’t usually helpful. Now, for Factor all you have to do is pick how many meals you want delivered each week. Literally. You don’t have to put in how many people or anything. Just how many meals you want a week.

As always, the one thing to be aware of is when the cutoff for changes can be made to your plan each week. You must make any changes before Wednesday 11:59pm CT the week before. Odd I know. So be aware.

The Details

The Packaging

The packaging is very simple. Every single meal is individually packaged. Like those frozen microwavable meals you can find in a grocery store. Each meal has it’s name on the label and even has it’s own nutritional facts on it too. There really isn’t much else to say about the packaging it comes in.

Meals

As I mentioned before, every meal is fresh and never frozen. So they’ll expire if you leave them in the fridge for too long. They even have expiration dates. There are a variety of meals to choose from. From my perspective, I find that there is less variety to choose from than Home Chef or Hello Fresh. Not that Factor doesn’t have variety, just not as much as the other two. In addition, there are great ways to pick your most ideal meals for the week. Pick from categories like: Keto, Calorie Smart, Carb Conscious, Protein Plus, Vegan & Vegetarian, Non-Spicy, Pork-Free, and Dairy-Free. I love these categories as they are much easier to find meals that fit your needs than other sites. You can also sort the meals. For example, from low to high calories or how to low carbs. Now, let get into the pros and cons of Factor.

The Pros

  • They offer nutrition coaching! There is even a free 20 minute session when you first sign up.
  • It is very convenient. There is no prep work to be done. Everything is portioned out, cut, and ready to be heated.
  • It is easy to find meals that suit your needs. Whether you dislike spicy things or a vegan.
  • Every meal is designed by a dietitian. So you know it’ll be good for you.

The Cons

  • The meal portions aren’t really large. They aren’t tiny, but they feel like they are just below filling.
  • They do not offer family size portions. So this was made mostly for those only looking to feed themselves. Not families.
  • If you have allergies, then I can’t say they can cater to your needs specifically. You will have to search for yourself and check ingredients to see if they are safe for you to eat.

Is Factor Worth it?

As you may or may not already know, I cook for 2 people 3-4 times a week generally with leftovers in mind. Now, my weekly groceries cost about $90-$120. If I get Factor for 2 people and get 5 meals for each of us for a total of 10 meals delivered a week, then it amounts to almost the same price at $124 a week. This includes shipping. So it can be a bit more expensive than the alternatives. But overall, not by a lot. And this does not include a coupon or promo. But if I can be honest with you, the meals are not that great. They taste mediocre at best and not very flavorful. However, they are soooo convenient. And they make life so easy. Overall, I can’t say that Factor is worth it, unless you are just that busy.
